There is confusion over what Radamel Falcao would earn as a Manchester United player. He was signed on loan from AS Monaco in a surprise deal on transfer deadline day but the rush in which he was signed seemed to have created some unresolved or unclear issues.
The British press on Tuesday quoted different figures as regards the Columbian’s weekly salary at Old Trafford.
The Guardian UK seemed modest in saying that Falcao was set to earn £190,000 a week at United.
But according to The Daily Mail, “United have had to pay the 28-year-old around £280,000 a week to persuade him to leave the tax haven.
The Independent, says: “United are understood to have agreed to pay £265,000 – making Falcao an even bigger earner than Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.”
The Telegraph also cites £265,000 a week figure in their paper.
But in The Mirror, the numbers exploded, causing more ripples and seting the prying eyes of financial fair play “people” on the Old Trafford side. The Mirror wrote: “United pick up Falcao’s £346,000-a-week wages – around £200,000-a-week after tax – as well as paying Monaco a £6m loan fee, taking the total cost of the package to £24m.
It was however understood that Falcao was initially offered to English clubs on personal terms of £345,000-a-week, and that detered Manchester City and Arsenal who were strongly in contention for the player's signature.
The figures keep changing in various media….So, how much Falcao cost Man U in their desperation to bolster their side is still not clear.
