The club transfer market in European football closed 11pm last night with last minute deals that surprised many especially the transfers of Radamel Falcao and Danny Welbeck to Manchester United and Arsenal respectively.
Premier League clubs smashed the record for spending on transfers this season, splashing out £835m on new players and breaking last year’s record of £630m. This year’s amount is almost double what was spent in Spain’s La Liga.
Manchester United was the highest spender - £150m, the highest for any English club. The club recorded a new record transfer fee for an individual player in English football - Ángel di María, £59.7m.
La Liga spent £425m; Italy’s Serie, £260m; Germany’s Bundesliga, £250m and France’s Ligue 1, £100m.
Below is a club by club guide of players’ movement across the top clubs in England and other teams fans were interested in.
