Woman gives birth on roadside in Asaba

It was quite a scene at the weekend when a middle-aged woman gave birth on the roadside along the Nnebisi road in Asaba, Delta State.

She had suddenly slid into labour while in a moving tricycle (“keke”) when passengers mounted pressure o the rider to stop after which she was surrounded by some women who assisted her in the delivery.

According to a LEADERSHIP report, the woman had gone to a clinic in the area for her routine ante-natal check-up when the medical staff on duty, after examining her, asked her to go back and invite her husband to the clinic.

It was on her way back home in the tricycle she boarded that she suddenly went into labour. The tricycle rider had resisted her cry until other passengers shouted him down and in the process the woman jumped out and immediately started pushing by the road side.
