Pregnant woman pours urine into neighbor’s drinking water, tries to poison her children

A 28-year old pregnant housewife, Bola Shakiru has been arrested by the police in Lagos for attempting to poison her neighbour’s family by pouring her urine into their drinking water, PM News reports.

The incident which happened at 10 Sanusi street, Ejigbo. Bola allegedly broke her neighbour’s window and poured urine that she had allegedly kept for three days into their drinking water. One of the neighbours however saw her and alerted the victim, Mary Chijoke.

According to Mary, trouble started following a quarrel with the accused.

According to her, before the urine incident, she had gone to her shop and returned unexpectedly having forgotten something at home. Upon her return, she realized that Bola had given her three children something to eat, but the eldest child collected the rice and hid it under the bed.

When she returned, the eldest child, Blessing, showed her the rice which she poured away after raising an alarm. This Mary believes led Bola to make another attempt by pouring urine in her drinking water.

According to PM News, Bola who confessed to the police said she poured urine in the water because Mary had made her a subject of local gossip, bastardising her name and attempting to destroy her marriage.

She however said she wants the matter settled out of court but when Bola was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka granted her bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum. The matter was adjourned till 8 October 2014 for trial.

Mary and her family has relocated for fear of being attacked.
