That virtual “poke” you send on Facebook could fetch a good beating or “killing” if it turns out that you are poking a hot-tempered guy’s girlfriend. LOL... See what happened to Richard Rovetto, pictured below.

Richard Rovetto, deceased
Rovetto, 29, was punched to death by his friend, Scott Humphrey who got angry that Rovetto poked his girlfriend. He had asked him: "If you're such a good friend why did you poke my missus?" …And then punched the hell out of him.

A prosecutor, Gareth Gimson, who spoke in court during Humprey’s trial said the angry dude struck his friend causing him to bleed from the nose and then knocking him down as a result of which the deceased banged his head on the pavement and died later in the hospital.

Humphrey has now been jailed for four years and four months by a Nottingham Crown Court after he admitted manslaughter. He had surrendered himself to the police when he realised that his friend died as a result of the beating.

Scott Humphrey, jailed
Poking someone on Facebook is often seen as a way of flirting with them, the reason why the convict took offence.

Mr Gimson said the row began in a taxi while the friends were returning from an event:
He said:"The taxi driver recalls Scott Humphrey was accusing Richard Rovetto of contacting his girlfriend in the past and doing so via Facebook.

"The expression used is a 'poke'. Scott Humphrey said to Richard Rovetto, 'If you're such a good friend then why did you poke my missus?'

"Richard Rovetto said he didn't know it was his girlfriend.
The exchange became more heated."

Speaking after the hearing, Mr Rovetto's brother-in-law Jason Burley-Evans, 42, said: "This was a waste of a life. We feel the sentence wasn't the justice we wanted for Richard. He was a much-loved person and it will be hard for us all to move on."
