Unsuspecting individuals in Zamfara state are now being fleeced by fraudsters posing as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recruitment officers. The fraudsters, according to a NAN report, are collecting money from them and promising to get the INEC jobs.

The report said many unemployed youths had given money to the imposters with the hope that they would serve as the ad-hoc workers in the 2015 general elections.

Some of the victims who spoke with NAN on conditions of anonymity said the fake INEC officers made contacts with them through phone calls.

The victims, who were contacted through phone calls, were directed to a place where they met the fake officials who sold application forms to them for price ranging from N5,000 to N10,000.

Head of Voter Education and Publicity in INEC, Mr Garba Galadima, said that although there was no formal complaint yet, members of the public should be wary of those trying to swindle them on the recruitment of ad-hoc workers.

According to him, recruitment is free and can only be processed online through the commission’s website – iasd.inecnigeria.org. Online recruitment would end on December 11.
