A bomb blast ripped through the busy Kantin Kwari textile market in Kano on Wednesday, police and traders said.

A trader, Nura Sadiq told AFP:

“I heard a huge sound coming from the back of my shop along Unity Road. I just closed the shop and tried to leave because it’s not safe”
The news agency also quoted Kano police spokesman, Musa Magaji Majia as saying:
“It is true. There has been an explosion at the Kantin Kwari market. We are on our way now.”
There was no immediate indication of deaths or injuries from the authorities.

We recall that on November 29, the city was hit by two suicide bombers who blew themselves up at the Central mosque after which gunmen opened fire on worshippers, killing at least 120 and leaving up to 270 injured.
