Pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu emerged the PDP governorship candidate for Adamawa State at the primary elections held on Monday.
Ribadu polled 688 votes to beat Marcus Gundiri with 33 votes, and Auwal Tukur (son of former PDP chairman Bamanga Tukur), who had 24 votes. Other aspirants like former chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Mohammed Modibbo scored 30 votes while the incumbent governor Bala James Ngilari got 26 votes.
Recall that Ribadu had months ago, decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP.
In Rivers, victory went to former supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom who emerged the PDP governorship candidate after polling 1,083 votes to beat his closest rival, Hon. Dumbari Ben-Dimkpa, who scored 21 votes.
The PDP governorship primary, supervised by the chairman of the party gubernatorial election panel for Rivers State, Hon. Etifa Bekeakpo, was held amidst tight security.
