Reports had it that the explosive was tucked in sacks and positioned between a private secondary school, Tin City College and Fatima Primary School.
According to a Vanguard report on Thursday, a pupil of the primary school drew authorities’ attention to a strange object which was later identified as an IED by police. The anti-bomb squad diffused it after cordoning off the area.
Had the bomb gone off, a huge student casualty would have been recorded in the area which also has the PHCN office and a few residential buildings.

The Media Officer, Special Task Force, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, urged the people of the state to be more vigilant and report any strange object within their vicinity for prompt investigation and action.
