Boko Haram and the Nigerian Military have reached a ceasefire agreement and an agreement to also release the Chibok girls have also been reached, according to a BBC Africa report.

The reports said the agreement was announced by Nigeria's chief of defence staff, Alex Badeh.

There had earlier been reports that high powered negotiations involving the Chadian and Cameroonian government were going on in Saudi Arabia. The ceasefire agreement appears to be part of the deal struck in the parley.

Field officers have reportedly been directed to comply with the agreement.
