Suspected Fulani herdsmen reportedly invaded Sondi village in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State on Sunday morning killing 25 people.
National President of the Nigeria Association of Wapan Students, Tsokwa Addanti Ajidik, told the press yesterday that the gunmen also burnt many houses in the village.
His words: “Today (Sunday) some gunmen in security uniform attacked our village. I can confirm to you that 25 people have so far died going by the reports at our disposal. The gunmen also looted properties worth millions of naira,”
According to Ajidik, security operatives had fore-knowledge of the invasion and did nothing about it.
“We are not happy with the security operatives because they were aware that these attackers were invading our village today, yet they did not prevent the attack,” he said
Punch however reports that the Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ademola Omole, who confirmed the incident, said only seven people were killed.
“So far, only seven people were confirmed killed. But we are fully on the ground there. I have sent more of our men to the area and peace has returned,” the police boss said
