Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, speaker of the House of Representatives, may have finally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) if an online news report is anything to go by.
TheCable reports that Tambuwal would be issued his APC membership card on Tuesday morning at his ward in his hometown, Tambuwal in Sokoto State, before heading to Abuja for the House’s plenary same day.
News said the speaker’s movement took place on Monday in his home state, Sokoto, where he attended the APC stakeholders’ meeting. The State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko and Inuwa Abdulkadir, former minister of youth development were reportedly at the meeting.
A source at the meeting, according to Premium Times, said Tambuwal told the gathering to accept him as “one of you starting from today”.
However, Tambuwal’s spokesman who spoke to TheCable played down the defection story saying that it was just a stakeholders meeting as “Tambuwal has always attended APC stakeholders meetings,”
But Tambuwal was believed to have headed to his ward after the meeting to register as a member of the party.
Speculations have it that Tambuwal would be contesting for governorship in Sokoto
