HIV-positive man rapes lover’s 8 and 6 year-old daughters in Benue

A HIV-positive man, Tekura Iorpuu is currently facing trial for raping and infecting the daughters of his lover with the virus. The girls are aged eight and six.

Punch reports Iorpuu, 32, was arraigned on Thursday before a chief magistrate’s court in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.

According to the newspaper, the mother of the girls, Mrs Mson Tor, had also been HIV-positive and had been on anti-retroviral drugs for over a year.

The victims were discovered to be HIV-positive after they were tested at Hemko Hospital in Makurdi. Their actual reason for going to the hospital was to know why they started walking with some difficulty.

The test revealed that they had been defiled through “forceful penetration”. Checks on their HIV status then came out positive.

When interviewed, the girls disclosed that they had been raped by their mother’s boyfriend.

The magistrate, Lilian Tsumba, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison as the case was adjourned till December 4 for further mentioning.
