Truly, as the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong continue, emotions are running high. But not all the emotions are negative. There are positive ones, like the one between Yau Chi Hang, 22, and his girlfriend, Crystal Chan, 21.

Right in the heat of the protest in Mong Kok, cameras captured Hang getting down to his knee and proposing to his girlfriend, Chan, who is also part of the protest. A video posted by Associated Press showed the crowd that surrounded them cheer, the moment Chan said yes.

The anniversary will therefore be celebrated with the political unrest in mind. Thousands of Hong Kong residents are demanding the right to choose their own leader in the 2017 elections but china says that was out of the question.

After a moment of being locked in passionate kiss with Chan, Hang told reporters: “We hope our next generation won’t have to be occupying the streets as they’ll have true universal suffrage,”

Although exhaustion is setting into the protests, some of the protesters have pulled out of talks with the government due to clashes with the police, but a CNN report indicates that a student group is willing to restart conversations if the conflict between pro-democracy protesters and those opposed is better handled.
