Twist of fate: Man takes poisoned drink meant for someone else

A 27-year-old man, Taofeek Adeyemo, has been arrested for poisoning a fellow guest at a naming ceremony in Ile Ife, Osun state. Police investigating the death of the man had narrowed their suspects to those who attended the ceremony before apprehending Adeyemo.

While parading the suspect in Osogbo, the state capital, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Folasade Odoro, DSP, said the suspect confessed to the crime.

But while speaking to journalists, Adeyemo disclosed that the poison was actually not meant for the deaceased, who was an artisan. He said he actually poisoned the drink of a co-worker but the deceased unknowingly took the drink.

The police PRO then advised people to be careful of the kind of company they keep and stated that once investigations were concluded, the suspect would be taken to court.
