One of the Access Bank branches in Benin, Edo state was on Wednesday night gutted by fire, PM News reports. The branch is the one located on Airport road of the city. 

The fire was said to have started from the top floor of the building at about 7pm.

A fire incident
Eyewitnesses told the news medium that “We were observing our evening prayers when we saw the fire from the back of the building and it was spreading fast.”

The Fire service however said that they responded quickly to the distress call and put out the fire. It was also learnt some of the staff were still in the building when the fire started.

No further details were given but it was gathered that the only property destroyed were some books.

Police were drafted to the scene and staff of the bank declined comments
